Changes to buses in Sele from 31st August

There will be a major revision to buses in Sele from the end of August, with a mix of good and bad:

Service 395 (Hertford Sele Farm and Ware Fanhams Common) will be withdrawn and be combined into an extended Service 323 (currently Welwyn Garden City Haldens to Hertford Bus Station) which will now run via Sele Farm and continue through to Ware Fanhams Common

Service 323 (Welwyn Garden City Haldens to Hertford Bus Station) will divert via Sele Farm and continue through to Ware Fanhams Common. It will no longer serve Campfield Road and there is no proposal to provide a replacement service for Campfield Road.

What does this mean for Sele residents?

• Sele Farm will once again have a bus service to Hertford Bus Station - SWNA has campaigned for this and we are pleased that this has been acted upon

• Sele Farm will get a direct bus to the New QE2 hospital and Welwyn Garden City bus station without the need to go to the stops on Welwyn Road / Thieves Lane

• Campfield Road will lose its service to/from the New QE2 hospital and Welwyn Garden City bus station, as well as a direct half-hourly service to/from Hertford Bus Station. The H2 will continue but only operates 08.50-16.00,so is no use for commuting. Campfield Road, Valeside and Hertingfordbury Road residents wishing to go to WGC will need to go to either the County Hospital, Ladywood Road or Fordwich Rise stops

• The Ladywood Road stop coming from WGC will be on the Panshanger Park side of the road where there is little room to alight especially when the verge gets overgrown. It will also require crosiing Thieves Lane on a bend where there is no refuge

Once full details are published we’ll add to this post. Obviously we have concerns including that currently the last 323 from Hertford bus station leaves before 18.00 and the later 395 services need to be replicated in the new 323 timetable. We are also concerned on punctuality as the 323 currently has a poor record due to delays in WGC.
